Captain Leonard Destin Park is a convenient kayak and paddleboard launch on the calmer bay side of Destin. The city park includes a designated paddlecraft launch, accessible beach area, dock, boardwalk, bathrooms, pavilions, playground, splash pad, and a heron rookery.
Parking at the park is limited, so the City of Destin asks paddlers who plan to stay on the water for several hours to use the nearby Zerbe/Calhoun public parking lot after unloading. It is a good option when you want an easy bay launch with plenty of amenities close by.
